Genesis 2, 1 Corinthians 15 / Bible Notes

”The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.” Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”

Genesis 2:15-18 NLT

God provided for Adam and gave him work right off the bat. Adam is immediately tasked with Dominion over the earth by tending His garden and naming all things.

God is a relational God and created man in His image to be relational. He knows that it is better for man to have partnership and gives man the opportunity to experience a lack of partnership to

A. Order man’s relationships with Him first. And

B. To give man appreciation for the gift of partnership.

This is a wonderful reminder of the thoughtful consideration God puts into all His created things.

At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’”

Genesis 2:23 NLT

This passage in 1 Corinthians reminds us that our physical bodies were created to be perfect but then corrupted by sin. Our sin, however great it may be, is still too small to stand in the way of God’s plan and His desire for relationship with His creation.

”So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.“

1 Corinthians 15:58 NLT

Lastly, this verse is a great reminder that what we give with faith and what we give to God never comes back void. God made us and moves us to work for Him, and He will give us what we need in all tasks He sets before us.
